PurseForum Roundup – 0725

Bottega Veneta Small Leather Goods

This is our last PurseForum Roundup of April, and most of us (in the Northern Hemisphere at least) are finally in springtime mode. This is certainly the case on the PurseForum, where the colors of spring we saw on the runway last year are finally finding homes in our members’ collections – and, more importantly, getting out and about! We found lots of pretty bags this week and cannot wait to show them to you!

Bottega Veneta Small Leather Goods

What a gorgeous combination! These super-saturated colors brightened our day immeasurably – Grietje’s new Bottega Veneta bag and wallet simply could not be prettier.Bottega Veneta does not have the busy front page that many brands do, but the wonderful reveals never disappoint. Speaking of saturation, gagabag is wondering if her new wallet is Fraise, or perhaps New Red, and members are hot on the case and happy to be helping out.

“Asked and answered” would have been, in retrospect, a great name for hotshot’s thread aboutchoosing which clutch to keep. This short-but-sweet thread is a perfect example of PurseForum members stepping in with just the right advice to help in a tough bag decision. Drop in and see what hotshot decided, and we will be watching for a reveal, too! Annie1 found herself in a bit of a bag dilemma as well, and reached out for help with an exchange that left her with some tough decisions.

Also, be sure to visit the Bottega Veneta Action thread to see these beautiful bags in action. Some of these purses live fabulously!

Coach Python Wallet

Unfortunately, things are not always rosy in our purse world. This week in Coach, we caught up with the sad tale of a bag gone missing. Fashionista1984′s bag was out for delivery and apparently wound up the wrong person, according to the thread. It’s a terrible shame, but at the same time we are touched by the support and helpful suggestions Fashionista1984 has received, and we join her Coach friends in keeping our fingers crossed for a good outcome.

The Coach mini-reveal thread had a very busy April, and what a variety! Canderson22 picked out a stylish wallet, and M.I.A. selected a Borough in teal, yet another example of why this popular bag flies off the shelves. For kicks, drop by the Daily Bag thread and follow kcoach’sbag journey, or read the true confessions in the Alterations thread, they are a hoot!

Coach Dome Bag

On our way out, we found a reveal of a lovely ecru and sea mist Preston – BellestChele did a terrific job of capturing the colors and workmanship of her new bag, and we’re so happy she shared with us.

Chanel Boy Bags

We found some good reading in the thought-provoking “Where are YOU in your closet?” threadKimTX started in the Wardrobe this week, as members wonder how to purge and select fashion that suits them and only them. Our ongoing Cleaning Out the Closet thread got a bump for spring and put lots of us in high gear to tackle this project. The The Onish a Month Club is also happily ticking along, though not all members are strictly adhering to the paradigm, as evidenced by JDN’s latest Chanel purchase. The Wardrobe also houses Wardrobe Accessories, full of discussions on scarves, sunglasses, and belts.

Scarves

On our way out of Wardrobe Accessories, we found this fabulous shot from LadySarah – what an excellent scarf collection!

Valentino Floral Bags

There was plenty of excitement in Valentino this week as mga13 revealed her new Easter Rosier, a truly stunning addition to her bag family. Bgirl525 is looking for some help with a big shoe decision, and the discussion on the comfort of the Rockstud continues to be a hot topic for Valentino lovers. We are still waiting for a decision on the red clutch question posed byMolls, and foxgal is needing help with hardware. Valentino lovers will also love seeing our members wearing pieces from their collections in the Valentino in action thread, and the What are you wearing with that Valentino thread.

Givenchy Small Antigona Bag Blue

Givenchy has been sending beautiful and wildly popular bags down the runways and straight into our members’ collections for quite some time. Visiting our Givenchy subforum is always a pleasure, and this week certainly was no exception. After we feasted our eyes on this blue beautyfrom hrhsunshine, we stopped into hannahchloe’s new thread on all things Antigona, which looks to be a very promising destination for fans of this great bag.

Speaking of the Antigona, don’t miss pinsky777′s brand new black Antigona, a special birthday gift that our Givenchy fans were happy to share! Jadeaymanalac celebrated a birthday this week too, with this wonderful new bag, which is a perfect gift for any occasion!

Picture Frame Charm

Just as we were about to wrap up, a thread in the Jewelry Box caught our attention, and we wanted to share this great shot from restricter in the Jay Strongwater Charms thread. Lovers of charms and tiny, cute, sparkly things will enjoy the close-ups of these intricately beautiful charms, not to mention the deals! Enjoy, and be sure to visit the other threads in the Jewelry Box for plenty of eye candy!

We hope you enjoyed the Roundup, and thank you for joining us! May is soon afoot, which means time is flying. We hope you have had time to stop and smell the roses, or whatever flowers are in bloom in your area, and if not, be sure to take some time to do just that. Have a wonderful spring weekend, and look for us right back here in a week!

PurseForum Roundup – July 11

Categories:Other Brands

Prada Saffiano Bags

It’s Friday again, PurseForum Roundup readers! We hope you are having a wonderful summer, because folks over at the PurseForum sure are, and we found plenty of evidence this week of fun, shopping and so much more. Our members have been re-decorating, buying hot new colorful bags from Kate Spade, talking Television and Cinema, and so much more. Come join us and see what we’ve been up to!

Clocks

We visited Home and Garden this week and were excited to see that LuckyDogMom hasupdated her thread and shared more of her beautiful home. This thread is about much more than decorating, and we always enjoy catching up and watching her transform her space – the wall of clocks was a stroke of genius for her veranda.

Our PurseForum gardeners are having a busy summer, and we seem to have several green thumbs among us. Theren has a nice crop of tomatoes, Aluxe showed off a garden (or is it a farm?) visitor and Echoes’ fresh wild blackberries stole the show. We love kitchens, and have a thread in Home and Garden dedicated to our member’s fabulous cooking spaces. This month,designer1 showed off her newly redecorated kitchen, and we are sure you will agree that she did a super job.

Kate Spade Bag Prada Sunglasses

Kate Spade’s bags have style for days, and we love them. This week, we visited the Kate Spade subforum and found a few colorful reveals that really brightened up our summer day.Fatentaheera’s new bag caught the season’s mood perfectly, and paired with fabulous sunnies, it makes a combination that cannot be beat. Dusty emerald is one of our favorite Kate Spade colors, and TraGiv’s Minka looks resort-ready in this great summer shade.

Reenxo also picked up a Minka recently too, this one in French navy, another perfectly executed color from this brand. There are so many cute reveals this week in Kate Spade, you will want to take time to savor every one – like this fuchsia from NutsAboutCoach, or this sweet pair from LVLadyLover. If you are not familiar with all that Kate Spade has to offer, drop into this fun subforum and see what’s new!

Pagoda

The Random Picture thread is often quiet, but when it gets a bump, it’s always worth a look. This week, we found a lovely scene from Bali, where shinenim had a farm to table experienceright next to a rice paddy. Also in General Discussion, we joined in conversations about theWorld Cup, honeybees, and rainy days. General Discussion is one of many subforums in ourPlayground, the destination for myriad fascinating non-fashion discussions.

Our current events subforum, Up To The Minute, has also been very busy this week – among other things, we are talking over the Facebook situation, the news-making nanny, the handsome felon and other breaking news. If you want to focus on the positive, we also have a whole subforum dedicated to nothing but Good News. Also, don’t forget to check into the Playground’s Television and Cinema subforum if your summer viewing lineup needs a pick-me-up.

Prada Saffiano Bags

Look what we found in Prada! What a gorgeous pair. Labamse fell hard for viola, and who can blame her? Super-saturated colors dominate page one of Prada, and this bifold wallet in stunning red certainly made pookspook’s day – and ours! Lots of threads in Prada this week seemed to be about making decisions, so be sure to stop in and lend a hand if you can! If you are not yet a Prada aficionado, you will find plenty of help in our Prada Reference Library.

Prada Saffiano Wallet

Speaking of colors, salmon is not always easy to execute in leather, but this week we found aperfect salmon Prada revealed by lilyzhang0725 – one of the prettiest iterations of this color around!

Givenchy Mini Pandora

Givenchy was certainly busy this week as well. Right at presstime, we spotted this Pandora reveal from PlaceboGiraffe, who looks great carrying this edgy and stylish bag – a strong choice for a first Givenchy! DebbieC picked up her first Antigona this week, a show-stoppingblack classic and a definite must-see! We also found several members looking for advice in Givenchy, along with another fabulous reveal from Spethyla, who found a pretty blue bag at an amazing price.

Bottega Veneta Bags 1

Last but not least, we had to share this summery bag family photo from Grande Latte, whose Bottega Veneta bags capture the spirit of the season to perfection. Happy summer everyone!!

With that, we wrap up this edition of our PurseForum Roundup. We only scratch the surface each week, so we invite you to spend some time on your own, exploring and finding your own favorite haunts in our busy fashion hub. You can see that we have something for everyone, and we hope you will find a conversation to join and maybe make some new friends. In the meantime, have a terrific weekend, and happy week ahead. See you next Friday!

Kourtney Kardashian Shops with a White Givenchy Bag

Kourtney Kardashian Givenchy Antigona Mini Bag

Here’s Kourtney Kardashian, shopping in the Meatpacking District in NYC, wearing a rather casual ensemble that seems a little reminiscent of something one might see in a Kardashian boudoir. (I like the idea of wearing silk shorts in broad daylight conceptually, but I’m not sure it’ll ever catch on.) Her bag is an adorable Givenchy Antigona Mini Bag with red trim, which is currently on sale for $1,596 at SSENSE. (That’s 30% off the regular retail price of $2,200.)

We just saw Kourtney in the Hamptons last week on TalkShoes, wearing a pair of Stuart Weitzman wedges. Kourtney is the sole remaining Kardashian sister who is without her own edition of “Many Bags,” but while you’re waiting for us to whip that one up, you can take a look at the vast wealth of handbags that her sisters Kim, Khloe and Kylie and Kendall lay claim to.

Perfect Pairs: Givenchy Antigona and Bionda Castana Pumps

Categories:Other Brands

Perfect Pairs Givenchy Bag

Ever since the Givenchy Antigona hit the scene, it hasn’t stopped running. Of all the Givenchy bags, this one has the most staying power and seems to be the most coveted. I have been diligently trying to figure out which Antigona I want, and I wonder if I should keep it simple and go with a neutral, even black.

There’s something so perfect about black and white, and this perfect pair comes together with the classic Givenchy Antigona and some Bionda Castana Pumps. These shoes are from a new designer, and while they have quite a bit going on with the checkered black-and-white satin straps and black knotted leather, I find them alluring. As a pair, these two items are quite an interesting mix, but they’re perfect for sleek outfits and make great go-to accessories for your summer nights out.

Celebrities and Their Givenchy Antigona Bags: A Retrospective

Categories:Other Brands

Celebrities Carrying Givenchy Antigona Bags

It wasn’t that long ago that Givenchy was just another luxury brand in LVMH’s significant stable. A few years ago, though, a streetwear sensibility started to leak into Riccardo Tisci’s gothic leanings and couture mastery, and ever since then, the brand’s signature graphic T-shirts, luxe sneakers and, more than anything, iconic handbags have been on the backs, feet and arms of basically every famous person on the planet. Today, we’re here to investiage the popularity of one piece in particular: the Givenchy Antigona Bag.

Despite being years old, the Antigona seems to be only growing in popularity, with even the most basic colors and materials sometimes hard to find toward the end of the season. In one version or another, its hung from the arms of the most beautiful and talented women in the world in amazing numbers, and we’ve collected several dozen pieces of proof of its popularity below.

Man Bag Monday: Givenchy Doberman Nightingale Tote

Categories:Other Brands

Givenchy Doberman Tote

Considering how aggressive and violent the famous, recently reissued Givenchy Rottweiler Antigona Tote is, you’d expect that the men’s version would be even more snarly and vicious. Alas, that’s not the case – the pup that graces the Givenchy Doberman Nightingale Totedoesn’t look overly perturbed by our presences or concerned that we might enter his yard. I bet he even likes tummy rubs. (I mean, don’t we all?)

There’s a certain amount of subversion to giving women a bag with an aggressive, agitated animal on it and making the men’s version much less violent. I’m sure that fact wasn’t lost on Givenchy – after all, Riccardo Tisci has emblazoned bags with Bambi and the Virgin Mary, so he’s not opposed to some not-so-subtle subversion. I’ve seen plenty of fashion-savvy dudes appropriating the women’s version of this design for their own purposes, and there’s no real reason it shouldn’t be a unisex bag; the Antigona tote is a simple, classic shape with little adornment, and the black background is about as neutral as it gets. By that logic, this bag could go either way as well, and Givenchy fans of both genders are known to borrow liberally from across the rack. Are you looking to snap one up? Buy through farfetch.com for $287.
